WOMEN OF THE ELCA
The women of our church are engaged in a mission of study, fellowship and service. This page contains further information about this ministry.

MISSION STATEMENT
As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our calling, engage in ministry and action and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.

WOMEN OF THE ELCA MEETINGS
Our meetings are held on Wednesday evenings four times each year.  Program and hostesses vary.  See WELCA schedule.

REBECCA CIRCLE
Rebecca Circle meets for bible study and fellowship on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at members’ homes or at church.  No meetings in February, March, November or December.

NAOMI CIRCLE
Naomi Circle meets for bible study and fellowship on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  Naomi Circle meets 2nd Thurs.@ 7 p.m. No meetings in January, August, November or December.

QUILTERS
There will be quilting the fourth Wednesday of each month when announced.  The sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. at the church.

COFFEE HOUR
Coffee hour is held each Sunday at 10:00 a.m.  The women organize hostesses for these coffees. Donations given at coffee hour are added to the November bake sales profits for use in various ministries.

FUNERAL COMMITTEE
The funeral committee arranges to have lunch after funerals.  Grace Ziegelmaier and Jean Meyer co-chair this committee. Other members are:
Lee Bjerke, Amber Magnusson, Joyce Glynn and Lois Seeley.

SERVICE PROJECTS
The women of our congregation engage in various community service projects like leading bingo at the nursing home, serving at the food bank and gathering items to send to Lutheran World Relief.

ALTAR GUILD
The church women serve in this capacity as well, taking care of the communion and paraments.  Please let us know if you would like to be placed on next year’s schedule.

President of Women of the ELCA is Kim Timmerman, Vice President is Betty Estebo.  Chris Bolson is Secretary. Mary Schweitzer is Treasurer.  Grace Ziegelmaier is the Mission Action officer.  

CHURCH SUPPLIES
Mary Schweitzer: Buys Styrofoam cups,
plates, coffee, sugar and creamer for the
church kitchen.

Chris Bolson: Buys cleaning supplies for the church plus Kleenex, toilet tissue & towels.

If you notice we are low in something, please check the basement supply room first before telling Chris or Mary.

NOTE: The round tables in Fellowship Hall donated by Women of the ELCA are not to leave the church

Margaret Cannon is pictured with some of the mission quilts, which have been sent.  Margaret always does a tremendous amount of work sewing the tops of these quilts. Other quilters include: Grace Ziegelmaier, Carolyn Vogel, Eileen Smith, Donna Reed, Gayle Bahlmann, Florence McKee and Joyce Glynn.  Lutheran World Relief sends these quilts all over the world to people who need them. In addition, quilts are made each year by our quilters and donated to the camp fund raising auctions of EWALU (Strawberry Point, Iowa) and Sugar Creek (Ferryville, Wisconsin).

The Rebecca Circle, which meets in the afternoons: Donna Thran, Jean Meyer, Lee Bjerke, Gayle Bahlmann, Grace Ziegelmaier, Donna Reed, Avis Smith, and Suzie Forde (not pictured: Dorothy Becker & Judy Schild)
